::How to Win the War Against Procrastination
Are you a procrastinator? Do you leave things to the last minute? Here are some tips to help you overcome obstacles.
- Break tasks into smaller and more manageable ones. Make sure each task is small and simple enough not to require too much time and effort.
- Make lists. Once a task is completed, mark it off your list.
- Develop time management skills by setting a specific time to finish each task. Tell yourself that you will not postpone the work == no matter what the distractions
- Make a list of possible consequences, including how you will feel, if you procrastinate.
- Don't be discouraged by setbacks. Realize that you are human, and try again.
- Estimate the amount of time you think a task will take, then double the amount.
- Anounce goals to family and friends. This will put some pressure on you to get started and do what you have set out.
- Give yourself rewards for jobs completed
- Set time limits. Procrastination can create unnecessary stress that can lead to conflict. Commit to making one small change at a time, and win the war on procrastination.
