Magee Tennis Team the best in the last 15 years!

The Magee tennis team just finished playing in the High School AAA Provincials held in Burnaby and Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver. For the first time in 15 years, the team made it to the final game against Sentinal Tennis Academy from West Vancouver. We lost 6 games to 5 but it was the greatest thrill beating St. Georges and Vancouver College to get to the finals. Ivana Erdevicki and Alexandra Sigiuon were chosen as the Provincial MVP girl’s doubles team. Magee Tennis is coached by former students Andrew Slater and assistant Liz Sartorius. Outstanding duos of Harman Gosal/Adrian Chiu, Ian Slater/Harjit Gosal, Thomas Knight/Jake Perkins and Alexandra/Ivan took the team through the city and zone playoffs. Rookie Tia Quo Vadis played outstanding doubles matches as did Tracy Lin. Michael Thompson was able to put his national squash serve on hold to win his share of tennis games. There was great team support from other players Sagar, Sahil, Vivian, Courtney and Nicole. Thanks to many teachers and admin who were able to come out to watch to support the tennis team and especially Ms. Chen and Mr. Morrison.

Senior Boys' Soccer

The boys played in the Provincial Soccer Tournament May 4,5 and 6 at the Burnaby 8 Rinks Complex and finished 9th in the Province after a 3 win, 1 loss and 1 tie record. They began the tournament with a 0-0 tie against a tough Port Moody team (who would finish 5th) then beat Correlieu 7-2. The next day began with a 0-3 loss to Sentinel before they finished with 2-0 victories over Claremont and Mt. Baker. The team had many outstanding performers, led by the graduating seniors. The team thanks its loyal fans for their year long support and looks forward to next year.

Senior Boys' Soccer

Congratulations to the Senior Boys Soccer team. From the beginning, the boys practised hard. Captains Spencer Wong and Luke Wallace lead their training early in the summer in order to be best prepared for the season ahead. Mr. Gault, Peter Grippo, and Anthony Bayer put hours into coaching the Lions, and low and behold, the work paid off. The Lions, after winning the Vancouver City Finals against Kitsilano, came second to McMath in the Zone Finals. Now they are on their way to the Provincials, where the Lions will play against the best in British Columbia. Magee is already so proud of our Senior Boys Soccer team! Good luck!

Junior Boys Volleyball

The junior boys volleyball team won their semifinal game yesterday versus Van Tech. They play in the Final tonight at 6pm at Magee. Fans, come out and watch the final!

Senior Field Hockey

There will be a brief but important meeting today at 11:35 for all field hockey members in the fitness room. Please bring your clean uniform and stick for return.

Juvenile Boys' Soccer

Congratulations to our juvenile boys soccer team for their 1/4 final victory over Churchill yesterday. In spite of dominating on the pitch for 59 minutes our lions only manage to score in the dying seconds of regulation time with a magnificent penalty shot by Neil. The team faces Kitsilano Monday for a semi-final showdown.
